Older Child Programs
Kaliningrad Adoption Program:
Partners for Adoption specializes in the placement of older children from the Kaliningrad region of Russia. These children are generally at least five years of age at the time of referral. This program is a wonderful choice for families who are open to an older child.
Pictures and comprehensive medical information for these children will be made available prior to the family traveling to the region. This is not a blind referral program.
Partners for Adoption ensures that families adopting an older child are able to gather as much information as they require regarding their adoptive child’s history and medical condition. In this vein, our agency is able to arrange for comprehensive and further medical testing while the family is in the region with their child. Such tests might include, but are not limited to the following: Additional blood tests, cardiology appointments, and endocrinology appointments. Families are also able to request a psychological evaluation in order to better understand their child and facilitate the bonding process. All of these tests will be scheduled and expedited while the family is in Kaliningrad so that the potential adoptive parent can be present if they wish. Additionally, families are invited to spend extra time in country in order to begin to know and bond with their newly adopted child.
Ukraine Camp Program:
Partners for Adoption is actively looking for host families for our Ukraine Summer Camp. From July 19th through August 2nd of this upcoming year (2009) we will be bringing children between the ages of 8 and 12 to the U.S. for three weeks of fun filled vacation. The children and their host families will get to know one another while taking part in a variety of planned group activities that include outings to local zoos, parks, museums, and beaches. Some facts about our hosting program:
- All of the children will come from the province of Crimea in Ukraine. It is a lovely resort area similar to San Diego/La Jolla, with beautiful beaches and rolling hills. The population in this area is very healthy.
- The children will stay in the U.S. for 15 days and live with the host family.
- Participating families do not pay for the camp in advance. PFA will pay for the children’s tickets, passports, and visas.
- The cost to bring a child from Ukraine to the U.S. for the summer camp program is $6,500 (one child). Host families will reimburse PFA in full 5 days after the child’s arrival and only if the family wishes to pursue an adoption. There is no obligation to families who do not choose to adopt.
- The age of the children available through this program is 8-12 years old. We will be bringing up to 20 children, at least half of whom will be girls. We will not bring special needs children for the summer camp.
- Children can be placed with families throughout California.
- The adoption fees for families participating in this program will be $16,000 as opposed to $23,500 for a regular adoption in Ukraine.
- Only one trip is required to complete the adoption in Ukraine. It lasts approximately 3 weeks and only one member of a family needs to stay after the court date, which is two weeks after arrival.
- Each family can host one child or a sibling group.
